The purpose of the Southern Wildfire Risk Assessment (SWRA) is to provide foundational information about wildfire hazard across all land ownership in the United States Forest Service Southern Region (Region 8). Such information supports fuel management planning decisions, as well as revisions to land and resource management plans. A wildfire risk assessment is a quantitative analysis of potential impacts by wildfire. |

Housing Unit Risk (HURisk) incorporates the general consequences of fire on a home as a function of fire intensity, using flame length probabilities from wildfire modeling to capture likely intensity of fire, as well as annual Burn Probability as a measure of wildfire likelihood. HURisk does not reflect mitigations done to individual structures that would influence susceptibility. It is similar to Risk to Potential Structures (cRPS) in Scott et al. (in prep2024), but also incorporates housing unit density and distance from burnable land cover. </SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV> |
